Kate Hudson is an actor of great talent, most well-known for her role as Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which brought her an Academy Award nomination. She was born into a lineage of movie stars and seemed to have a natural flair for the limelight. Her mother, Goldie Hawn, is a well-known film actor while her father, Bill Hudson, is comedian. She was passionate about performing since she was a child and would take any opportunity to dance or sing on stage. When she was a kid her parents taught her dance lessons and she trained at the Santa Monica Playhouse. In 1996, she received an appearance as a guest in the TV drama Party of Five. She was accepted into New York University, however, Kate Hudson was more interested in getting into show business, rather than obtaining a degree. After acting in minor films and commercials, she was offered the role which would become the focus of her career. Kate was cast to play Penny Lane in the comedy drama film Almost Famous. The film did not do well at the box office however it received good reviews from critics. It established Kate as an actor in the American film industry.
